As we do every year, we're thinking of all of those affected by the tragic events that took place on this date in 2001.
The school year is underway. If you’re the parent of a school-aged child, you’re probably aware that what your child will need to learn has changed. There are new education standards that all Maryland public schools are now operating under. The standards are known as the Common Core.
With Sheilah in the studio to talk about it is Lillian Lowery, Maryland’s State Superintendent of Schools.
You can learn more abou the Common Core State Standards at the Maryland Department of Education website. They also have more on the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC).
